Lately i'm into card making and scrapbooking, but that can change in an instant.i am the divahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02263135869760345387noreply@blogger.comBlogger23125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4318879885366467270.post-22648902568788007812010-03-05T12:09:00.002-06:002010-03-05T12:11:43.982-06:00Art Journal Prompt #1<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtteM5BpFcen0RSwwWrmAe7889ubL9DVyjCPK6eROhZ_1Bu8-CO50StwkGnA0UR2pn36hS4ArySx269xxWUTC8KoJIho3YXHuRuIvAZbgCKMA17m0_ymqaJRCgRDN4Yq45ob_9IM00KAVt/s1600-h/scan0010.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 216px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtteM5BpFcen0RSwwWrmAe7889ubL9DVyjCPK6eROhZ_1Bu8-CO50StwkGnA0UR2pn36hS4ArySx269xxWUTC8KoJIho3YXHuRuIvAZbgCKMA17m0_ymqaJRCgRDN4Yq45ob_9IM00KAVt/s320/scan0010.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5445214060328286210" border="0" /></a><br />The first prompt for the art journal was the word "What".<br /><br />I had journaled what i felt was holding me back from being artistic. Then i cut the letters for the word WHAT out of cardstock, and adhered them to the page. After painting over the journaling, i removed the cardstock letters to show the writing underneath.i am the divahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02263135869760345387noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4318879885366467270.post-41547011226050294532010-03-03T15:28:00.005-06:002010-03-05T12:02:54.164-06:00The Art Journal JourneyOn my journey to live a life that is more creative I found this website about artjournalling - <a href="http://oneyearartjournal.blogspot.com/">http://oneyearartjournal.blogspot.com</a> They put out a prompt on the 15th and the 30th of the month, which was great because i'm pretty sure that committing to 24 artistic pages throughout the year was not going to stress me out.<br /><br />Rather than buying a new sketchbook or journal, i decided to create an altered book for my art journal.<br /><br />So I went to the used book store downtown a few weeks ago and bought myself a spanky-new-to-me old book (published in 1926).<br /><br />but, boyhowdy, did I ever feel like a traitor in the bookstore.<br /><br />The guy saw me looking at old books and he really wanted to make sure that I saw a bunch of rare editions of certain books… if he only knew what I was going to do to that little book “Betty Gordon in Mexican Wilds”…he’d probably cry.<br /><br />So, what I did was glue about 5 pages together, and then taped the edge to make one thicker ‘page’. Then I ripped out about 5 more pages to make some space for any type of thickness, like glueing etc… after I had all my ‘pages’ made, I used some white gesso and painted them to give them a ‘tooth’ so that if I choose to do any painting or whatever, I can. It’s pretty sweet so far… I took some pictures with my phone - voila.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqwNpEs6oQT1PVG3eQeeC4lN1PcCF-2999SuvWKKbVkxnXwpD_R1ybUkNSz0DrnFimd8GueJKp23Ht1fcm3rrA0V4JAe2K7sDEJ7JhF5Rr1f9GUCPz1PtI1AtFXpSwUDabn08QVs8kwLy2/s1600-h/CoverBefore.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqwNpEs6oQT1PVG3eQeeC4lN1PcCF-2999SuvWKKbVkxnXwpD_R1ybUkNSz0DrnFimd8GueJKp23Ht1fcm3rrA0V4JAe2K7sDEJ7JhF5Rr1f9GUCPz1PtI1AtFXpSwUDabn08QVs8kwLy2/s320/CoverBefore.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5444523838959031618" border="0" /></a>my little book - about to be altered... drastically.... i will do something to the cover, eventually.<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjC3i0LK6pBRPEluZyW5v2rSgjYIa0Xpv3hv28YE1Jjyu6DXtU1608DAHcn3FMitfbKeYktNiFsrwvl4tAMjeX_njSL92zalBtwwUiH35vfhXNDmzfmOEsqNRXnMnyqu4eyDb1AVop5fuQ2/s1600-h/Gloooo.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjC3i0LK6pBRPEluZyW5v2rSgjYIa0Xpv3hv28YE1Jjyu6DXtU1608DAHcn3FMitfbKeYktNiFsrwvl4tAMjeX_njSL92zalBtwwUiH35vfhXNDmzfmOEsqNRXnMnyqu4eyDb1AVop5fuQ2/s320/Gloooo.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5444523842732811362" border="0" /></a><br />Glooooo!!! i glued about 5 pages together<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7CdmEUR24VMPX4U9faRG_9Deec1DlccDyFeAD7Uqsu5-vLVQdpg12AxAzmpehWBMpP3PVuLbt_u2KaG9N2KnXhypmR-2SgdHIz2yGe6mNmDSzBf1bdho1zXmI7gGdDir4nNRsgUfkMrNW/s1600-h/removepages.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7CdmEUR24VMPX4U9faRG_9Deec1DlccDyFeAD7Uqsu5-vLVQdpg12AxAzmpehWBMpP3PVuLbt_u2KaG9N2KnXhypmR-2SgdHIz2yGe6mNmDSzBf1bdho1zXmI7gGdDir4nNRsgUfkMrNW/s320/removepages.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5444523852133313794" border="0" /></a>Next i ripped out about 3 pages in between the glued 'folio's.<br /><o:p></o:p><p></p><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidPHPW1Cz-NNslOTUySp7CgyU1XbCegI-vj5t6uiqfrwQ4339MpoekwQPOK8fKS2ZG0PfiVZKsCOOAf0Y62InGFIdzqGc9ExAzL90wxREhZFiuwG_szZx97elCox4TO-wgLCkOABfU4Yik/s1600-h/room+for+growth.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidPHPW1Cz-NNslOTUySp7CgyU1XbCegI-vj5t6uiqfrwQ4339MpoekwQPOK8fKS2ZG0PfiVZKsCOOAf0Y62InGFIdzqGc9ExAzL90wxREhZFiuwG_szZx97elCox4TO-wgLCkOABfU4Yik/s320/room+for+growth.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5444523852837375746" border="0" /></a>With the pages removed there is space for any Thickening of the pages that may occur.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSsFGnLmDRWaT_wjAdCulYOaTu3lI1mORybyY3NBRZOzbyAyjB2CNv2nTa_TWazytv_kJ6qlWe_7mQBusps7eBblTZYV3RM7d8sEv83RuIESi0v5gd4Ro88O6XaO76JQGON5da0l618DQE/s1600-h/pages.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSsFGnLmDRWaT_wjAdCulYOaTu3lI1mORybyY3NBRZOzbyAyjB2CNv2nTa_TWazytv_kJ6qlWe_7mQBusps7eBblTZYV3RM7d8sEv83RuIESi0v5gd4Ro88O6XaO76JQGON5da0l618DQE/s320/pages.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5444523846181576306" border="0" /></a>I also added some masking tape to the edges of the 'pages' together for added stability.<br /><br />We'll see how this goes. i've done a few pages already, which i will post... but i always seem to forget to do anything fun, like layering or collaging... there's still time.i am the divahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02263135869760345387noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4318879885366467270.post-51961348421356403922010-03-03T15:21:00.003-06:002010-03-03T15:28:23.491-06:00what's happening? When the big ball dropped on New Year's Eve bringing in the new year, i made only one resolution. I decided i was finished with resolving to exercise, to eat better, to fit into my skinny-jeans. <br /><br />i resolved to find ways in my life to live more creatively.<br /><br />So, here we are into march of twenty-ten and i am pleased to say that i've finally found a resolution that i can stick to for more than three weeks.<br /><br /><a href="http://divazentangle.blogspot.com">I started zentangling just before christmas</a> - it's been great. <br /><br />I have also been knitting - a pair of<a href="http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEspring08/PATTmosey.html"> legwarmers</a>.<br /><br />and i've also decided to try my hand at art journaling. So i joined a ning group - <a href="http://oneyearartjournal.ning.com/">A year in the life of an art journal</a>, and that's been very fulfilling as well. <br /><br />I wanted to share some of the stuff i've done... so stay tuned.i am the divahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02263135869760345387noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4318879885366467270.post-68604363066810404392009-04-09T08:59:00.005-06:002009-04-09T09:06:24.909-06:00Mojo Monday #81<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgh2Um_3YJIKnL7HwdDDhpAMp5jMV-TsPv7VoVVxwrLGrvRTFjdw6EgdM19o6WoRR3EXyU_fgbQXVaq9Jcdu7lxcE69mMBagg-36ykH9nTIlT_Hi9SEgFSW3SIzHvZ50bfeNJYc4HLYyvbc/s1600-h/Mojo81Sketch.gif"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 233px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgh2Um_3YJIKnL7HwdDDhpAMp5jMV-TsPv7VoVVxwrLGrvRTFjdw6EgdM19o6WoRR3EXyU_fgbQXVaq9Jcdu7lxcE69mMBagg-36ykH9nTIlT_Hi9SEgFSW3SIzHvZ50bfeNJYc4HLYyvbc/s320/Mojo81Sketch.gif" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5322707000295790514" border="0" /></a><br /><br />This is my creation using the template on this weeks <a href="http://mojomonday.blogspot.com/">MojoMonday</a>.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihJ8lW_iWQwBXhjGtU33lP3zZp9UkDdkuOARqKrxJqAJUezOK-eRmYuJ3EkSsBqJ_LRc688MTOB_YDL7kgdpHqKyHWkjWeI5CUiaPZi2k7EO58Wjee3wFYKlRLkLX5myqucqsPG_GpZY_u/s1600-h/IMG_1294.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihJ8lW_iWQwBXhjGtU33lP3zZp9UkDdkuOARqKrxJqAJUezOK-eRmYuJ3EkSsBqJ_LRc688MTOB_YDL7kgdpHqKyHWkjWeI5CUiaPZi2k7EO58Wjee3wFYKlRLkLX5myqucqsPG_GpZY_u/s320/IMG_1294.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5322706993421626050" border="0" /></a><br /><span style="font-size:78%;"><span style="font-style: italic;">you can see "Mad Men" playing in the background, i used my laptop as a backdrop for this photo<br /><br /></span></span></div>I used scraps from my scrap bin, Navy Cardstock from Michaels, SU Chocolate Chip cardstock to mat the stamps. So - what better way to add my own personal touch to the nursery than to do my own artwork?<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPLbDDK_a9fpmInyGvqHq6IIhUWVnH2dDO2I5enTLiZ6HjnyTykw9q3eD1PjfLQyyYU2gxgYnMb6kkpDt_jbUC6auezOq6c3q6mC1k7mHeU0y4x3YYrnv8m8PqtY421Cvgi_tS7s0n6XUb/s1600-h/sketch.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPLbDDK_a9fpmInyGvqHq6IIhUWVnH2dDO2I5enTLiZ6HjnyTykw9q3eD1PjfLQyyYU2gxgYnMb6kkpDt_jbUC6auezOq6c3q6mC1k7mHeU0y4x3YYrnv8m8PqtY421Cvgi_tS7s0n6XUb/s320/sketch.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5192292153252199426" border="0" /></a>It all started with this sketch. B-rad and i were watching tv and i was doodling, and before i knew it, this little giraffy dude was born. So the next day i went down to the local art supply store and purchased some canvass. I was inspired by some artwork that had been given to me by the lovely <a href="http://www.saviabella.com/">Savia</a> and i hadn't painted with acrylics in such a long time. it was nice to give it a go.<br /><br />The canvass my i used was 10"x20". Nice and tall and narrow. It took me most of the day to complete, but it was my day off - so i had the time.<br /><br /><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgf87FrWCeqOZ7c66omC7PIpVe9ON4MEHfhZl-39Hb3deC8OTXqmcU77tubnC08yHYX-eXnLYVucQqq8QV_GdNd1RSer7pDpcT0bg6p4Oz9uUx0slxUfnnYCXEcJ0FMcqDGpyyaZMB8Y-oG/s320/sketch2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5192292350820695090" border="0" /><br />I started with the giraffe itself, and it didn't take as long as i anticipated to fill in the body colour. I was only working with 3 different paint brushes though. I suppose had i not been so lazy i probably could have gone upstairs and retrieved my entire brush set, but as i said, i'm lazy. Plus - painting all those nooks and crannies with a brush too big was sort of a challenge!<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3j0n4LBdHmvvOEs0_j8kOvjhlJwKGKTvpFFtEbTWeoNZbC_Q9ESL1kZOx339PgIHrvKL2Es6uAOaKtkQ_jJkI3aISGNfN-BOgkC84VzjtLRtJ3y7GzU8GFrEGLIKfoPnqYbGKsTXKzZR6/s1600-h/sketch3.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3j0n4LBdHmvvOEs0_j8kOvjhlJwKGKTvpFFtEbTWeoNZbC_Q9ESL1kZOx339PgIHrvKL2Es6uAOaKtkQ_jJkI3aISGNfN-BOgkC84VzjtLRtJ3y7GzU8GFrEGLIKfoPnqYbGKsTXKzZR6/s320/sketch3.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5192292342230760482" border="0" /></a><br />You can see here in this set (above) that i was almost finished the piece, i went upstairs and had a shower, and when i returned i realized the one major fuckup flaw to the art - the giraffes back legs were out of whack. The far leg should be more ahead of the closer one. <br /><br />After much humming and hawing and debating whether or not anyone would notice (i'm lazy, remember?) B-rad and i decided that really, it would only take me another 15 minutes or so to fix the problem now, whereas if i had left it, it would annoy the piss out of me every time i walked into the baby's room. So, i fixed it - as seen in the third panel there.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbsMsLnB1fcsAFrDxvomizbFPiLvfKpstgvkUcJy2g8rGvoyqKRq3VaGlqNOQvrZaYSfH4JvAt2firyVwhWCJD8xbnBgi28z5q_YFIKxbGknOtsIzd7TVLSSYscXLpU-m3tYi9MxcrC0y-/s1600-h/sketch4.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbsMsLnB1fcsAFrDxvomizbFPiLvfKpstgvkUcJy2g8rGvoyqKRq3VaGlqNOQvrZaYSfH4JvAt2firyVwhWCJD8xbnBgi28z5q_YFIKxbGknOtsIzd7TVLSSYscXLpU-m3tYi9MxcrC0y-/s320/sketch4.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5192292342230760466" border="0" /></a><br />After fixing the leg fiasco, i just had to add the last final finishing touches, including the black outline acting as a poorman's frame. Here it is, hanging in its final domain - Chewie's room.<br /><br />it was fun. i love going in there and seeing bright artwork, that's cute and makes me happy.i am the divahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02263135869760345387noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4318879885366467270.post-10251293924143860132008-01-04T10:49:00.000-06:002008-01-04T10:57:55.325-06:00Word!! I can still feel the way the warm liquid sloshed on my sides and she swayed to the victrola. I've never heard this song before. She sings to herslef as she sips from my side.<br /><br />Scarlet Sweetheart is the colour of her lipstick. Now it adorn me, the waxy feel of her lips and tongue excite me. She is decked out in pearls and lace. I can't remember the last time i was out. She's celebrating something.<br /><br />A knock ont he door startles her. She puts me on the piano and leaves the room. I can feel the warm sunset on my etched crystal as it shines throught the burgundy drapes - the colour of the liquid i'm holding.<br /><br />I can hear her in the other room. She is no longer alone. Another voice? A man's voice. Murmurs outside the parlour.<br /><br />She returns and the burly blond man with the mustache follows her in. They argue. She walks to the window and says words to him - i don't understand. They are foreign and hard sounding, not the gentle flow of English i am used to.<br /><br />She turns to him and laughs - i can tell that it is not a laugh of joy, but of fear.<br /><br />Suddenly, i am lifted in the air by the frightening man. He moves me too harshly and the waves of wine cascade over my side and onto the carpet below.<br /><br />She yelps and rushes to pull me from his hand. She and i walk over to the sofa and sit. Once more, she sips from my edges. Her soft warm lips on my, her sweet tongue catching a misguided drop. Her soft hands cradling my found body. She puts me on the table. It is the last time i feel her.<br /><br />The man is upset. He rounds the table and grabs her wrists and pulls her from the sofa - she hangs there - suspended by his strong arms. She is crying now. "No, no" she says. I understand <em>those</em> words.<br /><br />i am scared. She tries to pull away from him but he is too strong for her.<br /><br />the commotion jostles the table and suddenly i am caught by vertigo. The world is upside down, and as i topple over, i can't see her anymore.<br /><br />As i land on the table, i feel a large crack at my stem and i am in agony as it makes its path to my rim.<br /><br />As the wine splashes onto the table and the floor, i see the large man huddled over top of her breathing heavily.<br /><br />As the last drops flow from my broken shell hee rises and walks to the door. She does not move. His hands are red. I can see from my spot on the edge of the table that the floor is rapidly flowing red, and i know that that is not my wine.<br /><br />The sun has set and the room has gone dark. The victrola has stopped its music some time back.<br /><br />The wine on the table is black from the darkness.<br /><br />It's quiet in here.<br /><br />Dark and quiet.i am the divahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02263135869760345387noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4318879885366467270.post-52393018174170459422007-08-07T20:24:00.000-06:002007-08-07T20:46:53.418-06:00Writing Exercise<span style="font-weight: bold;">Write for 20 minutes - no editing. <br /><br />Write a pure dialogue story. Christ, i'd practically give my left nut for a bag of Doritoes right now. That is - if they'd drop...Hahahaha...y'know what i mean?...Shit. You don't know. You're just a baby rookie. Hand over the chocolate, Rookie.'<br /><br />'Fine!....Here, happy now?'<br /><br />'Mmmm. yesh. Thatsh good shit.'<br /><br />'Okay, so here's the truth. i have this cousin. He went to this camp for years. he told me all the secret hiding spots. the trouble is - i have to sneak out to the edge by the lake - that's where my cousin will bring the goods. i need a good lookout. That can be you if you can keep a secret. He said he made a killing selling this stuff to the other campers.'<br /><br />'i'm listening'<br /><br />'kay, i didn't want to come here, and i'm guessing you didn't either. So, if i'm going to be stuck here all summer - we might as well make some cash. i figure we'll sell at a huge profit, and after i pay my cousin, you and i will still make enought dough to make this summer not a complete and total loss.'<br /><br />'Shit. Am i ever glad you got assigned to my bunk. What's your name again?'<br /><br />'Brandon'<br /><br />'Jeff. Nice to meet you .....partner'<br /><br />'Yeah, partner.'<br /><br />'So - what's your plan?'<br /><br />'Well, - i figure we'll get the inventory from my cuz, and then we'll wait a few days - until everyone's crazy and sick of this health crap. Then, we'll spread the word to one or two of the guys and wait for the power of Word of Mouth to take hold. Then you and i will be rolling in it.'<br /><br />'Man, i wish i would've thought of this two years ago, i'd be rich by now.'<br /><br />'yeah, the hard part is not eating it all.'<br /><br />'what?'<br /><br />'well - this chocolate we're eating? That's it. Enjoy it while you can. After you're done - that's it.'<br /><br />'what the hell? why have all this food if you're not going to eat it?'<br /><br />'Because i can get five bucks for this chocolate with a properly motivated buyer. That - and my parents said if i don't take off the weight i'm going to Military School in the fall. and i say "fuck that!" Besides, someone's got to keep losing weight or the counselors will notice. So you and i are going to follow the diet AND the exercise - and when we leave we'll be forty pounds lighter and much much richer. My cousin lost 50 pounds and then totally slept with a cheerleader. That.....can be us!'<br /><br />'shit! you're serious?....ok. ....i guess i'm in! Let's do it partner!'<br /><br />'let's do it.'i am the divahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02263135869760345387noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4318879885366467270.post-85811400676477571832007-07-11T18:11:00.000-06:002007-07-11T18:14:03.278-06:00vulnerable artthis is a scanned version of the card i made to send a very important letter to a very important person. I have a really hard time letting things dry. i just want to get the next layer of paint in. Again, i think i could do a little more work in my backgrounds.<br /><br />i could probably done/do some more to this painting to make it better, but i was afraid i would wreck is...as i was just getting more frustrated.<br /><br />I really love the way the Faery turned out though. the dress, the bouquet, i'm happy - except for that left eye that i just couldn't fix.<br /><br />This is actually very VERY similar to my wedding dress, i didn't really realize it until i had drawn the faery. and the picture i used as a reference is one that B-rad took of me on our honeymoon... so i called it 'waiting bride'.<br /><br />I only hope i'll look back at this one someday and discover i've come a long way.i am the divahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02263135869760345387noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4318879885366467270.post-23200081748269492992007-06-07T12:50:00.000-06:002007-06-07T12:55:03.446-06:00in need of development...<div>i did some more painting last night...i've come to realize i really need to work on my ability to paint backgrounds. the green blobs behind the hibiscus look nothing like leaves. But it's all about the learning. i tried to do some freehanded abstract stuff last night, i've been reading a book about letting the paint "dance" across the paper.... my paint was two left feet, cuz there was no dancing to be had. sigh. </div><div> </div><div>oh well,</div><div> </div><div>onward and upward.</div>i am the divahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02263135869760345387noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4318879885366467270.post-54523369113471080452007-06-06T20:17:00.001-06:002007-06-08T11:01:35.823-06:00Hawaiian HibiscusMy friend Kate took the photo, i did the paint...<br />i'm trying to brush up on my watercolour skillz of an artist... <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaHJdyox4YSgVcGcB5_elKTSJFtUb6G_UHZtYCYcwUSyqyiCXBXFT0QDfKJInxdAuF3yNxAdepOfpwoeFWfVM_NoUGWrJrGvvjBwM8kIjkfqzrwTlb-NOYT6kXCxHnkSI7ZShhioZBO9Me/s1600-h/hibiscus_June+5_07.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5073143620790675138" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: pointer; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaHJdyox4YSgVcGcB5_elKTSJFtUb6G_UHZtYCYcwUSyqyiCXBXFT0QDfKJInxdAuF3yNxAdepOfpwoeFWfVM_NoUGWrJrGvvjBwM8kIjkfqzrwTlb-NOYT6kXCxHnkSI7ZShhioZBO9Me/s400/hibiscus_June+5_07.jpg" border="0" /></a>this is the first painting done with the new paints i bought on the weekend.
