Mojo Monday #81

This is my creation using the template on this weeks MojoMonday.

you can see "Mad Men" playing in the background, i used my laptop as a backdrop for this photo

I used scraps from my scrap bin, Navy Cardstock from Michaels, SU Chocolate Chip cardstock to mat the stamps. The Stamp sets were SU "Botanical Blossoms" and "Priceless" and "Simply Said". The brads are jumbo silver brads from the dollar store.

The flower and butterfly were both stamped with versamark and then chalked with the SU pastel chalks. The phrase was stamped with SU Chocolate Chip ink. All three pieces of cream cardstock were smudged on the edges with burgundy chalk.

2 cards - Puns/Simply Said

This card was made with Red Card stock from a fall package, bought at Michael's. The stamp is from SU "Puns from the Past" set, i crumpled the cream and green cardstock pieces before gluing them on to give them a distressed look. The 3 buttons are from a bag of buttons i bought at WalMart, and all the stitching is drawn on with black marker.

This card is made on green cardstock from a Halloween package i bought at Michael's. The Striped paper is from my scrap bin, the rest of the cardstock are scraps as well. This card uses SU "Simply Said" Stamp set, the SU Scallop edge punch, and 2 large pastel brads i bought at the dollar store.

Purple and Grey

Using SU Scallop Edge punch, and SU "Love Matters" retired stamp set.

This card uses 3 different SU sets, Retired "Love Matters" for the Love stamp on the top and the inside phrase: is such a big word it really aught to have more letters, sale-a-bration "Botanical Blossoms" for the stem and "Simply Said" hearts for the flower.

This card used SU "Priceless" stamp set.

I used Grey Cardstock and some purple scraps from my scrap bin, and i really love the colour combination.

A Little Somethin'

Both these cards were made using paper scraps from my scrap bin, Stampin' Up "A Little Somethin'" Stamp set, Stampin' Up scallop Edge punch and SU Real Red ink.

I just learned how to make these scallop frames, so i was testing them out. Make a square 7cm x 7cm and punch out ONE scallop edge on each side.

Botanical Blossoms

This card was made using Stampin' Up "Botanical Blossoms" Sale-a-bration set, Stampin' Up ink and Scallop edge punch. All the paper is from my scrap bin.

Giraffes among us

Somewhere along the line in this pregnancy, i decided to become addicted to giraffes. So - what better way to add my own personal touch to the nursery than to do my own artwork?

It all started with this sketch. B-rad and i were watching tv and i was doodling, and before i knew it, this little giraffy dude was born. So the next day i went down to the local art supply store and purchased some canvass. I was inspired by some artwork that had been given to me by the lovely Savia and i hadn't painted with acrylics in such a long time. it was nice to give it a go.

The canvass my i used was 10"x20". Nice and tall and narrow. It took me most of the day to complete, but it was my day off - so i had the time.

I started with the giraffe itself, and it didn't take as long as i anticipated to fill in the body colour. I was only working with 3 different paint brushes though. I suppose had i not been so lazy i probably could have gone upstairs and retrieved my entire brush set, but as i said, i'm lazy. Plus - painting all those nooks and crannies with a brush too big was sort of a challenge!

You can see here in this set (above) that i was almost finished the piece, i went upstairs and had a shower, and when i returned i realized the one major fuckup flaw to the art - the giraffes back legs were out of whack. The far leg should be more ahead of the closer one.

After much humming and hawing and debating whether or not anyone would notice (i'm lazy, remember?) B-rad and i decided that really, it would only take me another 15 minutes or so to fix the problem now, whereas if i had left it, it would annoy the piss out of me every time i walked into the baby's room. So, i fixed it - as seen in the third panel there.

After fixing the leg fiasco, i just had to add the last final finishing touches, including the black outline acting as a poorman's frame. Here it is, hanging in its final domain - Chewie's room.

it was fun. i love going in there and seeing bright artwork, that's cute and makes me happy.

Word!! She's so tough and Stuff

Look at her. Isn't she the cutest thing alive? yes. yes she is. This is the wee little daughter of my very good friends Fourleafclover and V. They marinate themselves some pretty adorable chitlins.
Anyway, a long time ago, i posted on this blog about making my first ever baby sweater, and hat, and booties. Well, here they are in all her glory! She looks so warm, and gangta-ish. like she's ready to totally bust a cap in someone's diaper.
i asked her a while back for a picture to post of her wearing the gear, and she complied shortly after, but then i got busy and wasn't able to get my act together long enough to do it. UNTIL NOW!
There are more things missing from this blog, too. Now that i think about it.
There were a few crafty items that were created as Festivus gifts, and it being Festivus - i didn't want to post anything for fear of them sneakin' a peek.
But a few things are:
A Ceramic Angel that i made for my mother in law - no picture. dang.
A Ceramic Fairy that i made for my sister-in-law, again, no picture... dang
and a Watercolour of a Fairy for the same sister-in-law... again... no picture.
well.
maybe she'll be so kind as to take a picture for me so i can post it. oh, and for Festivus she gave me watercolour paper... her funny way of hinting that she wanted a painting.... lol....
and as one of my new years suggestions was to take up knitting again, maybe i'll post more stuff soon.
